Real Training for Real Operators by Real Operators
Massachusetts Hoisting License was founded by Rick Staples after seeing a growing need for safer equipment operation and better access to licensing education throughout Massachusetts.
Rick’s construction career began in 1986 operating heavy equipment in the field. Over the next four decades, he developed hands-on expertise working with cranes, excavators, loaders, and jobsite safety procedures across the construction industry.
In 2001, Rick shifted his focus toward safety training, crane inspections, and workforce education. Since then, he has trained thousands of operators, inspectors, and construction professionals while helping companies improve safety standards and jobsite awareness.
Following the tragic tower crane collapse in New York City in 2008, Rick was brought in to assist with crane inspections, municipal inspector training, and development of structured inspection procedures. That experience reinforced the importance of proper operator training, safety awareness, and industry accountability.
Today, Rick and his team have helped more than 30,000 students prepare for Massachusetts hoisting license exams and renewals through in-person and online training programs.

I took a class and passed the 2A & 1C exams. I relied heavily on what was discussed in the class and dedicated a lot of time and effort studying the materials that were provided. Highly recommend taking a class with them!
